- Put your ring finger on the C string at the 3rd fret, which is D♯.

Playing F♯m6 with a capo
No barre needed if a capo is allowed: capo on the 4th fret and play the open Dm6 shape (2-2-1-2). The chord sounds as F♯m6 because the capo raises every string by 4 half steps.

- B (V in E major): F♯m6 (2-3-2-4) to B (4-3-2-2): your ring finger stays put, move the index finger to the E string, 2nd fret, the middle finger slides across to the A string at the same fret, the pinky finger goes to the G string, 4th fret. Shared notes: F♯ and D♯. B on ukulele
- A (IV in E major): F♯m6 (2-3-2-4) to A (2-1-0-0): move the index finger to the C string, 1st fret, your middle finger lands on the G string, 2nd fret. Listen for A and C♯, which stay put while the rest moves. A on ukulele
- E (I in E major): F♯m6 (2-3-2-4) to E (1-4-0-2): the index finger goes to the G string, 1st fret, the middle finger slides across to the A string at the same fret, your ring finger lands on the C string, 4th fret. A short F♯m6 drill
Pick shape 1 one string at a time, low to high: A, D♯, F♯, C♯. Every note should ring clearly; if one thuds, adjust that finger before you strum. Then switch to 6-6-5-6 and back four times without looking at your hand.
You may also see it as G♭m6; nothing changes on the ukulele.
