How to use this chart

Each box is a ukulele shape in standard GCEA tuning, with the four strings G, C, E and A from left to right. Dots show where to press, with the finger number inside; strings without a dot ring open, and on ukulele you strum all four. The four digits under each box are the frets from the G string, so 0003 is C and 2010 is F. Because the G string is tuned high, the chords sit close together and bright. If a shape here doesn't match a songbook, check that the book isn't written for baritone ukulele, which uses guitar shapes instead.

The rows run in the order of the musical alphabet with the sharps and flats last, so the chords you'll use first (C, D, E, F, G, A, B) sit at the top. Each key has one usual spelling here (E♭, not D♯); the other name is the same chord.

The chart by difficulty

A week with this chart

  1. Day 1: C, Am, F and G. Loop them, four strums each, until the changes are even.
  2. Day 2: the other open majors on the chart, D and A, and the minor Em.
  3. Day 3: the sevenths. G7, C7 and A7 are one or two fingers each.
  4. Day 4: B♭ and Bm, the first partial barres.
  5. Day 5 to 7: one row a day, all four columns, strumming down on every beat.

Printing tips

Landscape fits all 48 boxes on one sheet of Letter or A4. A copy folded in the gig bag saves you looking up the same shapes twice. Choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog for a copy on a tablet; the site's menus and buttons are left off the printout.

What to learn next

Pick the four chords of one key and practice changing between them: in G that's G, C, D, Em. The beginner ukulele chords page gives an order that's kind to your fingers, and every chord's own page shows alternatives when a shape is hard. Also printable: guitar chord chart and piano chord chart.

Every chart is generated from the same engine as the chord pages. Updated September 2026.
